As part of the implementation of the international OTRACON SK-UA project, IDS Východ, Ltd., acting as the lead partner, has taken an important step in strengthening its data-driven approach by commissioning an expert audit of the current transport model of Eastern Slovakia.

The aim of the audit was to thoroughly assess the input data, statistics, and methodologies on which the model is based. In its previous form, the model relied mainly on data and assumptions from the years 2017 to 2019, while transport patterns, mobility behaviour, and overall conditions in the region have significantly evolved since then.

The audit revealed that, in several cases, model outputs showed considerable inaccuracies, errors, and methodological shortcomings. These findings confirmed the need for an expert review of the model and the establishment of a structured process for its correction and update.

Based on these results, IDS Východ has initiated steps to address the identified issues and improve the quality and reliability of modelling outputs. This includes updating input data, refining modelling assumptions, and introducing control mechanisms to ensure higher accuracy in future analyses.

These measures are particularly important in the context of the OTRACON project, whose outputs will be used for strategic decision-making and the development of alternative solutions in transport infrastructure and mobility planning across the cross-border region.

The audit therefore represents a crucial step towards ensuring that all analytical outputs of the project are based on verified and up-to-date data, enabling more reliable and effective transport planning in Eastern Slovakia and beyond.
